• You are not broken.

As humans we are not meant to be happy all the time. The beauty of life lies in the depth of the human experience and the array of emotions that come with it. All the experiences we have, the moments of joy, pain, love, sadness, fear, curiosity, compassion, are there for a reason.

Through Acceptance and Commitment Therapy or ACT I realized the goal was not to feel better, but to live well.

I am Heather, a Clinical Behavior Analyst and ACT practitioner. For over 2 decades I have used the principles of behavior to help a variety of people learn new ways to understand and interact with their environment. Through the use of evidence-based methods, I help individuals make changes to their behavior and move forward in alignment with their values.

  • “what is wrong with me?"

We live in a world that is constantly feeding us stories of how life should look and how we should think and act as members of society. When I picked up my first book on Acceptance and Commitment therapy I was eager and hopeful that these methods would help me ‘feel better’ only to discover feeling better would not be the goal. Instead, ACT would for the first time help me fully realize something…

I was not broken. Nobody is broken.

  • "Why do I feel this way?"

We have spent decades thinking that if we have thoughts of fear, shame, anxiety, depression, that something must be wrong with us. But there is something they never told us, something that we can now see, that all humans have these feelings at different times depending on the context of the situation. No person fits into a box, each person has completely unique, one-of-a-kind life experiences that make them who they are and those parts, the pretty ones and the not-so-pretty ones, are the essence of being human. The goal was not to feel better, but to live well.

I realized that as people, we are complete.

  • "What do I really want in life?"

We strive to attain success based on a narrative that promotes toxic productivity, perfectionism, and consumerism and ultimately inhibits our ability to look inside for the answers we are seeking, to truly get to know and love ourselves, and to find acceptance in the spectrum of our experiences. Once I was able to start accepting myself and understanding my values, I could start to move towards what really mattered to ME.

ACT helps us learn how to be aware, open, and actively engaged with life. I want to help people find the inner peace and love that is

    toward your values.

  • I try to help people see they are not broken, their personal experience and journey are unique to them, but we all share the human experience, full of love, pain, joy, sadness, and all the beautiful colors in between.

  • Why I do what I do

I want to help people accept themselves and their experiences, gain awareness of the power of the present moment and find ways forward in line with their values. I am not going to tell you what you need to do. I will not be another wagging finger. I will connect you to what matters TO YOU and help you find ways to move in that direction if that is what you want.
